Stuart started playing drums relatively late on, but after a short month he was performing around Europe with his schools prestigious big band. Stuart went on to study at the British Academy of New Music (Ed Sheeran / Rita Ora) in practical musicianship, later being invited back to their educator programme. Stuart was also a very keen actor studying theatre and was a member of the National Youth Theatre.
Since, Stuart has taught for 14 years for various councils, charities, music hubs et all, facilitating workshops for SEND charities and schools to weekly sessions over the course of the academic year. Stuart has also lead talks at conferences for his work and has become a sought after private tutor and workshop facilitator.
Stuart also manages The Remedies, a session band linked with Music Is Remedy, that started as a resident house band in Camden and Croydon playing with various unsigned artists at the time, such as Katy B, Ghost Poet and Ed Sheeran. This seeded their relationship with Ed Sheeran, seeing them tour and record a live EP with him. Since establishing themselves, they have gone on to holding residencies at The Jazz Cafe, Ronnie Scotts, Annabel’s in Mayfair, The Ivy and more. They’ve held headline gigs all around the UK with various artists, regularly play as the house band for headline acts.
The Remedies have played anywhere from Glastonbury (Kobi Onyame with an early Emeli Sandé) to Jersey Live (Ed Sheeran), Ronnie Scotts (supporting Mica Paris) to Wembley (MOBO’s), headline gigs and festivals with Ed Sheeran and Mikill Pane to recording at places such as BBC Maida Vale studios. Stuart regularly plays the London circuit and the festival circuit and has also performed at such venues as Wembley Arena for the X Factor finals, Channel 4 Big Narstie Show and various BBC TV and radio appearances, recording for Warner at Sticky Studios and countless other performances.
